Week 51 - apps for mind, body & soul

Updated: Sep 26, 2019

The 52 weeks challenge has been hard, there have been times where I have felt a little under-motivated to keep up with doing yoga each day, going for a walk or just sitting and meditating. With all that has been going on in my life.

Stress, cancer, bills and everything else that wanted to pop up during this challenge made me feel like 'why bother' some days and so I needed a little push. When I went looking for that little extra helping hand I found it in the form of some really great apps, Down Dog, Zombies Run and Headspace. Down dog is free and amazing, it's my new go-to app for learning yoga in the comfort of my home. With beautifully put together studio-like sessions with clear vocal instructions and music that really gets you in the mood. The app does have a paid upgrade option that allows you to focus on specific areas of your body in sessions, speed up or slow down your sessions, 3 new playlist types and decrease the vocal instruction. This app is really worth the download as it has helped me really stick with yoga, I like to do a 30min yoga session every night before bed. Zombies Run is another great free app, it is a story-based running app that puts you in the shoes of a survivor of a zombie epidemic and you need to run to collect supplies in order to build up your town. The story really gets your heart pumping and makes you want to keep going to hear more, it really builds excitement when running. If you want an incredibly fun, immersive story-based running app that is great whether you're just walking, jogging, running or training for a 5K marathon then this app is for you. Headspace is one of the best apps that I have come across for guided lessons of meditations and mindfulness that you can do anywhere anytime. You don't have to be a pro to meditate just download the app, get in a comfy position and hit play. I like it because the sessions are simple with calming narrations, not too many options for making your meditation more over-complicated than it really has to be. It really helps you to de-stress and sleep better at least it really has worked for me.

Those are the three apps I have been really working for me lately, what apps are you loving lately.
